How to make a Bootable USB Installer of Yosemite 10.10

           I know you will be eager to try the newly released OS X Yosemite 10.10.  If you are already download the Yosemite installer app from the App Store, then proceed to the bootable usb creation steps, otherwise download yosemite installer first.

After downloading the app, you will need the following.
1. A USB drive with minimum 8GB
2. A Mac running machine.
3. The downloaded OS X Yosemite 10.10 .app file (saved in the folder "/Applications/")

Now you are all set for making the bootable USB drive of OS X Yosemite.

Note: In this post, the USB storage name is "SANDISK" , and the Yosemite installer App file is reside in the folder as "/Applications/Install OS X Yosemite.app"

Step 1.
First Format the USB drive to "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)"
for this, Connect the USB drive to your existing Mac and goto "Disk Utility" and select the USB drive and under the "Erase" tab, you can format the drive.

Step 2.
Open the application "Terminal" and run the following command (Better copy and paste the command and edit the file path and USB drive path).

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/SANDISK --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Yosemite.app --nointeraction

This will make the USB drive a Yosemite bootable installer. You should change the USB drive name and the path of Yosemite installer app in your command. It may take 15 to 20 minutes depending on your USB data read/write speed. When the terminal says "Done" you are all done and ready to install and try the Mac OS X Yosemite 10.10.

            Here is the way to exclude your external hard disc or USB pen drive from Spotlight search listing. You can do it simply from Apple menu -> System preference -> Spotlight -> and select the Privacy tab and browse the Disc, External Hard disc or USB Pen drive and click OK.

Now Spotlight will omit the results from the selected or excluded Disc.

How to Exclude A Folder From Spotlight Search

You can exclude or prevent folders and discs from being listed in spotlight searching. You can do it from "Apple menu" and then "System preference" and then "Spotlight" and then select "Privacy" tab and select/browse the folder you need to prevent from spotlight listing.

You can also select the particular file types like images, movies, emails, music, etc from there. Spotlight will omit the files and filders from the search results.

How to Make Mevericks Bootable USB For Installing OS X Mavericks

System and Hardware Requirements

• 8gb or higher usb flash drive. (Mavericks Installer is a 5.31GB file)
• Install OS X Mevericks.app downloaded from AppStore (after downloading, get it from /Application directory)
• An Apple Machine running OS X 10.7 or higher

Steps to make bootable Mevericks Installer

1. Plug the USB to a mac machine
2. Open "Disk utility" and Erase the USB with "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" ((In this case, USB Drive name is /Volumes/MANU), you can name your USB drive in erasing step)
3. Open "Terminal" and type below command to write the Mavericks installer packages to USB and make bootable.

Syntax:

If your downloaded OS X mevericks Installer file saved in  /Applications/OS X Mevericks.app
And your USB drive path is  /Volumes/MY8GB/ , below command will work for you perfecly

sudo /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app/Contents/Resources/createinstallmedia --volume /Volumes/MY8GB --applicationpath /Applications/Install\ OS\ X\ Mavericks.app --nointeraction

When promted, type your user password for executing sudo command.
